Museum Night returns to Paris this Saturday, May 17, 2025. For the occasion, the Musée de l'Histoire de la Médecine opens its doors to you for free nocturnal visits. A great opportunity for the curious and the passionate alike.

Nuit des Musées is one of the highlights of the capital's cultural calendar. Paris and the whole of the Île-de-France region get in on the act, as cultural venues welcome enthusiasts and the curious for visits that are often free of charge, nocturnes, and a fine program of events, concerts, performances and other surprises. Museums, castles, monuments and institutions are getting in on the action, to help us discover the heritage of the Paris region in a whole new way. This Saturday, May 17, 2025, the region will be transformed into a giant art center!

It's also an opportunity to discover the more confidential spots and secret museums that hide in the four corners of the capital. These fascinating places share their own treasures and knowledge with you. If you're fascinated by medicine, head to the Latin Quarter to discover the Musée de l'Histoire de la Médecine, which is also taking part in the Nuit des Musées.

The museum traces the evolution of the art of surgery from antiquity to the 1950s, with a permanent exhibition featuring instruments (including those used in the care of King Louis XIV), anatomical models, medals and paintings. It is also one of the oldest collections in Europe.

    A university museum Université Paris Cité celebrates the art of surgery at its Musée d'Histoire de la Médecine, located on the second floor of the Odeon site. Through its permanent collections and rich cultural program, this museum is a place for the mediation and dissemination of knowledge.

    In the heart of the 6th arrondissement, an emblematic site in the history of surgery in Paris, the Musée d'Histoire de la Médecine tells the story of the art of surgery from antiquity to the 1950s. Instruments, anatomical models, medals and paintings evoke different medical specialties and highlight a craft and know-how that has now disappeared.
