The Musée National de la Marine opens its doors to us for an exceptional free nocturne, this Saturday, May 17, 2025, on the occasion of this 21st edition of the Nuit des Musées.

Pirates, freshwater sailors and marine enthusiasts, make a note of this date: on Saturday May 17, 2025, the Musée National de la Marine opens its doors free of charge for an exceptional nocturne. All evening long, the place of art and history welcomes the curious, on the occasion of the 21st edition of the Nuit des Musées.

French ports, representations of power, trade, the art of navigation, the navy: the Musée de la Marine tells the story of naval history and the importance of the sea in France since the 17th century. Visitors can admire numerous ship models, paintings, sculptures, old and new navigation technologies, outfits and equipment, objets d'art...

All these treasures, and more, can be discovered during the tours organized for the 21st edition of the Nuit des Musées. The aim of this Europe-wide event is to showcase the country's cultural and artistic heritage, and to open up museums to all kinds of visitors for an evening out of the ordinary.

Walks, encounters, concerts or shows, games, exhibitions... Museums often organize special events for this event. Find out what the Musée de la Marine has planned!

The Nuit des Musées 2025 program at the Musée de la Marine :

  • 1 Ado - 1 Œuvre - Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm
The Musée National de la Marine in Paris welcomes the François Stemmer company for a performative creation in the permanent collections. As part of the 1 Ado - 1 Œuvre project, young artists aged between 14 and 20 take over the collections, proposing artistic performances linked to the museum's works and themes.
  • Joseph Vernet's Ports de France - Saturday, May 17, 2025, 7:30 - 9:00 pm
At the Musée National de la Marine in Paris, fourth-form students from the Lycée Jean-Baptiste Say perform plays and readings in front of thirteen large-scale paintings by Joseph Vernet from 1753 to 1765. The painter's correspondence helps us to unravel the mysteries of these famous views, intended to "make the French better acquainted with their Navy". An extraordinary journey to the heart of a work's genesis!
