• Continuous mediation of the exhibition "Maisons de Plaisance des environs de Paris, de Louis XIV à Napoléon III"
  Discover with our team of mediators the temporary exhibition "Maisons de Plaisance des environs de Paris, de Louis XIV à Napoléon III". From the Renaissance onwards, in the Ile-de-France region, a wealthy elite left the city for the summer months, settling in sumptuous residences "in the fields" for relaxation and entertainment. The maison de plaisance is as much a place of representation as of relaxation. It embodies the wealth and taste of its owner.
  Prints, paintings and decorative objects from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries bear witness to a history that has helped shape the Ile-de-France landscape. These works illustrate an art of living and the social transformations of the late Ancien Régime and the 19th century: fashionable entertainment, the desire for privacy and comfort, the place of women and the development of the bourgeoisie, the connection with nature... Around seventy works borrowed from public and private collections take their place on the permanent tour of the Musée du Domaine Royal de Marly, in dialogue with its collections.
