RATP gets in tune with the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games! From September 3 to 6, 2024, the transport authority is bringing the return of the RATP Stadium to Auber station, a brand-new, free playground (but requiring a metro ticket for access) that will take place at the heart of one of the network's busiest stations. An initiative that promises to delight passengers and raise their awareness of para-sport!
This sports operation, which has been awarded the "Grande Cause Nationale 2024: Bouge 30 minutes chaque jour" (Move 30 minutes every day ) label, will give Auber station users the opportunity to discover and learn about three accessible and inclusive disciplines: wheelchair badminton, running for the blind and wheelchair racing. It's also an opportunity for RATP to support Jeffrey Lami, a station agent on line 5 and para-athletics guide for blind athlete Timothée Adolphe.
Wheelchair badminton, an adaptation of badminton for people with disabilities, is now available to users. The playing surface is limited to half a court (singles), with the front area excluded. For the blind race, you'll have to run, like the athletes, with the assistance of a guide. And for the wheelchair race, you'll be seated in wheelchairs adapted to the sport. Travelers will have to complete a course with the aim of going as fast as possible while controlling their trajectory.
Since 1982, RATP has actively supported French athletes in their dual sporting and professional careers through the " Athlètes de Haut Niveau RATP " scheme. In 2024, six athletes are benefiting from this support, four of whom have earned their ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This initiative at Auber station only reinforces RATP 's commitment to promoting sport and well-being on a daily basis. A not-to-be-missed event, where you can discover new disciplines and perhaps even find a new sporting passion for the new school year!
