The Olympic flame is finally burning in Paris, and will be for the duration of the 2024 Olympic Games. To see the lit cauldron up close in the Tuileries Gardens, you can register for free. Explanations.

It shines brightly (no pun intended) in the heart of Paris, large and eternal: the Olympic flame has finally found its official cauldron, this Friday evening, July 26, 2024. At the end of the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and after a long relay through France and Paris, the flame ignited a new cauldron created for the occasion, and installed in the Tuileries Gardens, between the Louvre Museum and Place de la Concorde.

Shaped like a ring attached to a monumental balloon, this basin resembles a hot-air balloon, paying homage to the Montgolfier brothers, the French inventors of this aerostat. The work was imagined by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur. For the duration of the Games, from sunset to 2 a.m., the cauldron will fly over the Paris skyline, more than 60 metres above the ground.

During the day, however, the cauldron should remain on the ground, visible to all curious onlookers and strollers. If you're in Paris during the Games, don't miss this opportunity to see the Olympic flame and cauldron up close!

To ensure the safety of all and to provide spectators with the best possible viewing conditions, the Games organizing committee has put in place a number of rules. Access to the cauldron is free of charge, but registration is required via a dedicated website. 15-minute slots are available from 11am to 7pm from July 27 to August 11, enabling 10,000 people to approach the cauldron each day. Once you have booked your visit, a QR code will be sent to you to enable you to access the exhibition area.

The registration site may be temporarily unavailable due to high demand. If this is the case, please be patient or come back later to register.
