A new Olympic title has been added to Florent Manaudou's list of achievements. The 33-year-old swimmer from Cercle des nageurs de Marseille clocked an impressive time of 21'56, placing him behind Australian gold medallist Cameron McEvoy and British silver medallist Benjamin Proud.
With this performance, Florent Manaudou wins his fifth Olympic medal, a further accolade for the man who had already won gold in 2012, silver in 2016 and silver in 2020 in the same discipline. He thus becomes one of the few swimmers to win an individual medal at four different Olympics.
Florent Manaudou was the flag-bearer for the French delegation, alongside the athlete Mélina Robert-Michon, symbolizing his prominent place in French sport.
This bronze medal, achieved in the pool at the Paris La Défense Arena, marks the 32nd medal for France at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Visibly moved, Manaudou expressed his satisfaction on France 2: "I'm happy, I hadn't had a bronze medal yet".
Florent Manaudou's career has been exemplary, and this latest medal confirms his status as a French swimming legend. These Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be remembered as the edition in which Manaudou once again proved his talent and perseverance.
