Images reminiscent of the French ski cross triple at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi! On August 2, 2024 in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France achieved a historic triple in BMX racing, taking first, second and third place in the competition.
The trifecta in order? First place, Joris Daudet (in 31''422); second, Sylvain André (in 31''706); third, Romain Mahieu (in 32''022). The three musketeers totally dominated the competition, putting distance between themselves and each of their competitors in the qualifying rounds. A French hat-trick at the Summer Olympics not seen since... 1924 !
As soon as they reached the finish line, the three Frenchies celebrated in style, hugging and thanking the wildly enthusiastic crowd on hand. It's fantastic stories like these that have been putting stars in our eyes for the Paris 2024 Olympics for a week now.
What a night for France. Just moments before, Florent Manaudou won bronze in the 50 m freestyle, followed by Léon Marchand , who claimed his 4th Olympic title (!!) in the 200 m individual medley. Go France!
