These Paris 2024 Olympic Games have gone down in history, with exceptional medals from the very first day of the Olympiads and numerous records broken, some of which dated back to the last Games in the capital in 1924!

After an extraordinary opening ceremony, for the first time outside a stadium in the history of the Olympic Games, the Paris 2024 Olympics have entered into legend. And our athletes thrilled the whole of France, with superb medals and numerous records broken, throughout this exceptional Olympiad.

  • 25 medals in 5 days!

At the Atlanta and Sydney Games, the French reached a total of 25 medals after 8 days of competition. This year, they did even better, but even faster, after just 5 days of competition! A record not beaten since 1924, on home soil!

  • 9 medals in one day

On Monday, July 29, France had already collected eight medals, and on Wednesday, an already exceptional figure! And this Friday, the record set at the Atlanta Games on July 27, 1996 was equalled, with nine medals gleaned.

  • A 100% French podium

This record-breaking Friday saw a historic triple in BMX Racing, with Joris Daudet winning ahead of Sylvain André and Romain Mahieu. For a French podium finish, you'd have to go back to the last Olympics held in the capital a century ago, in 1924, for such a feat! That was in gymnastics.

After gold at London 2012, silver at Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2021, the 33-year-old swimmer has now won 4 medals in 4 Olympiads, making him the first swimmer in history to win a medal at 4 consecutive Games in the same discipline.

  • Léon Marchand and his medals

The exceptional young swimmer already has four medals in his bag, making him the only French quadruple Olympic champion in the same Olympic Games. Teddy Riner, Christian d'Oriola and Lucien Gaudin have already won four gold medals... but over several Olympiads! Very few have done so internationally, where they join Kristin Otto, Mark Spitz and Michael Phelps. And there's more to come, since he can still win two more!

  • Beijing medal record surpassed

By Friday, August 2, the French had racked up 36 medals, following a magnificent hat-trick of BMX titles! The first week of competition wasn't even over yet, and the delegation was far better off than in Tokyo, where we only won a paltry 33 medals. Exceeding the Atlanta (37) and Sydney (38) totals was easy, and finally, the Beijing total of 43 medals is now a distant memory, with a new record of 64!
