At the Tokyo Paralympics, France came fourteenth with 54 medals, eleven of them gold. Can it do better on home soil at the Paris 2024 Games?
These Olympic Games in Paris were record-breaking for the French delegation! With 64 medals, including 16 golds and a Top 5 finish, France exceeded our expectations, compared to the botched Tokyo Games. Will the Paralympics be able to take advantage of this Olympiad on home soil to do well too? At the last Olympics, France was not in a very good position, with 14th place and 54 medals, 11 of which were gold.
The number of medals seems well within reach for our French athletes, but we'll have to hope for a better ranking this time! The fervour of the Games at home should once again have a real impact on our Bleus and make them grow wings, so that they can reach the top of the table by the end of the fortnight!
To achieve at least the same number of medals as in 2020, it will be necessary to count as much on goldmedals as on silver and bronze medals, which are often more numerous! While China and the USA, as always, are likely to be the front runners, the French have their chance, with a delegation of 236 athletes!

According to Marie Amélie Le Fur at the press conference, the
ambition is to return to the top 8 at these Paralympic Games, with at least 20 gold medals! The odds are stacked in our favor, given that it's been 20 years since there was a French player in
basketball, and the first time for
sitting volleyball! And while parity has yet to be achieved,
81 of the 237 members of the French team are
women.
Allez les Bleus!
