For the occasion, some of the capital's most emblematic sites have been requisitioned to host sporting events, including the Place de la Concorde, the Grand Palais and theAccor Arena.
So many sites proud and happy to open their doors to the 10,500 athletes from the four corners of the globe, including the Finnish delegation. Finland, which often tops the list of the world's happiest countries, intends to outdo itself to bring home as many medals as possible.
Finland 's first participation in the Olympic Summer Games dates back to 1908. Since then, the country has won numerous medals in various disciplines. A total of 305 medals have been won by Finnish athletes since their participation in the Olympic Summer Games began, mainly in athletics, wrestling and gymnastics.
In recent years, however, Olympic medals have become rarer for the Finns. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which were finally held in 2021 due to Covid, Finnish athletes won just two medals; a first silver in swimming with Matti Mattsson, and a second silver in boxing with Mira Potkonen.
