During the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, held in the French capital from July 26 to August 11, theRefugee Olympic Team made a big splash, thanks in particular to Cindy Ngamba, flag-bearer for the closing ceremony and, above all, the first medalist in the history of the Refugee Team.
Created in 2016 at the Rio Games, the Olympic and Paralympic Refugee Team is experiencing a fine record at the Paris 2024 Games, with the number of athletes competing under the Olympic banner - the flag representing this multicultural team from around the world - breaking all records. With 37 Olympic and 8 Paralympic athletes, the team is hoping to win the first-ever Paralympic medal in its history.
At the Tokyo 2021 Games, the refugee Olympic team failed to win a medal.
