Daniel Weiss and David Benioff, these two names alone can create huge anticipation among series fans. These two showrunners brought the whole of Hollywood to its feet with Game of Thrones, which has become one of the most cult series of recent decades. Now they're back as a duo with The Three-Body Problem, their brand-new show, coming to Netflix on March 21, 2024. The trailer was unveiled at Tudum, the platform's online event.

This science-fiction series, adapted from Liu Cixin's 2008 novel of the same name, takes us back to the 1960s, in the midst of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and its aftermath. This new show is obviously eagerly awaited, and the trailer promises great spectacle!

The Three-Body Problem series synopsis:

In the midst of the Cultural Revolution, the Chinese government is building a secret military base. Ye Wenjie, a young astrophysicist undergoing "re-education", joins the research team. In this isolated place, she works on a teletransmission system directed into space, and gradually discovers the base's true mission.

Thirty-eight years later, as a strange wave of suicides strikes the international scientific community, eminent nanotechnology researcher Wang Miao witnesses paranormal phenomena that shake his rational convictions.

Our review of The Three-Body Problem (spoiler-free):

The Three-Body Problem undeniably stands out as a phenomenal work of science fiction. This masterful adaptation of Liu Cixin's work, orchestrated by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (the brilliant minds behind Game of Thrones), offers an unexpected and deeply rewarding experience for fans of the genre.

This series, which skilfully interweaves science and philosophy, is bound to divide opinions. Its deliberately slow start is designed to lay the foundations for a complex plot. However, those with patience will be rewarded with a rich, captivating and incredibly gripping narrative.

Science-fiction aficionados will find Le Problème à Trois Corps an unforgettable series that will leave a lasting impression. At Sortir à Paris, we've been won over and highly recommend this nugget of narrative intelligence.
