Attention fantasy fans! La Demoiselle et le Dragon, a feature film directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and available on Netflix since March 8, 2024, takes us on an epic journey to the heart of a kingdom where ancestral traditions govern people's lives and destinies. A docile young woman, played by Millie Bobby Brown, finds herself at the center of a thrilling plot when she agrees to marry Prince Charming, played by Nick Robinson. However, she soon discovers that her fairy tale is far from what it seems: the royal family, seeking to repay an ancient debt, has decided to sacrifice her to a fire-breathing dragon.
Thrown into a dark cave, the young woman must use her wits and courage to escape her doomed fate. A captivating adventure, full of magic, mystery and acts of bravery, where our heroine discovers her own strength and determines her destiny. The cast also includes Robin Wright, Angela Bassett, Brooke Carter, Ray Winstone and Shohreh Aghdashloo, who lends her imposing voice to the dragon.

Since March 8, 2024, Netflix has been offering The Damsel and the Dragon (Damsel ), aHeroic Fantasy film that inverts the codes of fairy tales, with Millie Bobby Brown playing a princess who clearly doesn't need Prince Charming to save her. It's a pleasant film to watch, but it's not very far-reaching, responding to specifications that are far too narrow to make anything surprising out of it.
As for the story, it's expected, a little too easy, even convoluted, but it gets the job done, as there's never a dull moment. As for the acting, it's much the same: the whole cast meets a set of specifications without really imposing themselves, but the whole thing remains a pleasure to watch.
As for the special effects, they're pretty good, especially the dragon, which is more than a little frightening. All in all, a film that can be watched without revolutionizing the genre (nor does it claim to). A must-see for the curious, or to unplug your brain for an evening. If you're looking for a genre film that's a little more thoughtful and complex, unfortunately you'll have to pass. You'll just have to make up your own mind...
