The Shrinking Man, directed by Jan Kounen and starring Jean Dujardin, revisits Richard Matheson's masterpiece. Coming to theaters October 22, 2025.

On October 22, 2025, the film The Shrinking Man arrives in cinemas, buoyed by a promising performance from Jean Dujardin as Paul, a man whose life is turned upside down after a strange meteorological phenomenon. Adapted from Richard Matheson 's cult 1956 novel, the feature is directed by Jan Kounen and co-written with Christophe Deslandes. Joining Dujardin is Marie-Josée Croze, in a work that combines adventure, science fiction and a reflection on the human condition.

The Shrinking Man plunges us into the life of Paul, an ordinary man who works in a shipbuilding firm. Happily married to his wife Elise and their daughter Mia, Paul's life is turned upside down when he goes out to sea. After passing through a strange storm, he notices that his body is inexorably shrinking. Neither science nor medicine are able to explain this phenomenon, and Paul becomes a prisoner in his own home, particularly in his cellar, even though he's only a few centimetres tall. In this new, hostile environment, he must learn to survive, in the face of the dangers of a daily life that is becoming deadly. Alongside this physical challenge, Paul is confronted with the most profound existential questions, in a story that is as much initiatory as it is epic.

This new adaptation of Richard Matheson 's novel appeals as much to fans of science fiction as it does to fans of introspective tales about the human condition. With its blend of action and philosophical reflection, The Shrinking Man appeals to those who appreciate big adventures as well as meaningful films. Viewers of films such as Alone on Mars or The Odyssey of Pi will find in this tale a struggle for survival in which the hero is confronted with his own limits. This film, which promises impressive visual effects while retaining a deeply human approach, should also appeal to those who are sensitive to stories that are both personal and spectacular.

With L'Homme qui rétrécit, Jean Dujardin ventures into a role that is both physical and emotional, under the direction of Jan Kounen, to revisit this literary classic. The film promises to be both a spectacular journey and a profound reflection on humanity. Join us in theaters on October 22, 2025 to discover this extraordinary adventure.
