Bohemia Interactive, a renowned video game development studio, announces the upcoming release of Silica, a futuristic RTS/FPS hybrid game. Born from the Bohemia incubator, this new game transports players to the fictional planet of Baltarus, thousands of light years from Earth. Their objective is to locate and harvest Balterium, a precious element with exceptional energy properties. Silica was developed primarily by Martin "Dram" Melichárek, a familiar name to fans of Bohemia Interactive since he also worked on Take On Mars. The game will be available in early access on Steam very soon, with an expected duration of 9 to 12 months and several major updates already announced.

Silica Trailer:

Silica offers players an immersive blend of real-time strategy (RTS) and first-person shooter (FPS). Players can choose to play as a commander in RTS mode, overseeing the battle from orbit, or as an infantry soldier in FPS mode, able to control all available units and vehicles and their arsenal. Available factions include humans, with their impressive combat vehicles, and insectoid creatures, which allow players to transfer their consciousness into beasts such as the Stealth Crab or the armored Goliath.

Silica features three game modes: Strategy, Prospector and Arena. Strategy mode is the flagship mode, seamlessly combining RTS and FPS elements, and allowing for factional battles. The Prospector mode serves as a tutorial, immersing players in a single or multiplayer FPS where they must explore the area in search of a Balterium field. Finally, the Arena mode offers a fun and dynamic environment where players compete in FPS-style melee combat.
