Mount your broomstick and get ready for the Quidditch match of the century! Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, developed by Unbroken Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games under the Portkey Games label, awaits you on September 3, 2024 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch in digital version, and on November 8, 2024 in physical version (excluding Nintendo Switch, released for the holiday season) to discover the joys of broom flying and fierce Quidditch competitions, from Hogwarts to the rest of the world.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is distinguished by its Quidditch-centric gameplay in competitive multiplayer mode. Players will be able to create and customize their champion, and engage in single-player matches, teaming up with friends or joining online players. The game's handling is still a big mystery, but we can expect an immersive and dynamic experience that will plunge fans into the heart of Quidditch matches, all requiring a permanent Internet connection. A game that will hopefully remind us of the excellent Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup, released on PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube and Game Boy Advance in 2003.
The announcement was also an opportunity for Warner Bros. Games to reveal a playtest phase, which took place on April 21 and 22. Interested fans were invited to register on the game's official website to take part in these tests. As far as the business model for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is concerned, information is still sketchy. It could be free-to-play, with in-game purchases to customize champions, or a premium game available for purchase.
The gameplay for this game has begun to leak, as our colleagues at JV. com explain in a tweet. We learn that games will be played in a five-player versus five-player format and will last eight minutes, with players able to take on the role of catcher, chaser, beater or goalkeeper. A goal would earn 10 points, while capturing the golden snapper would earn 30. Skins would also be provided, in the image of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley or Cho Chang. Broomsticks and wands will also be further customized.

We've missed Quidditch... And for want of being able to do so in Hogwarts Legacy, we were eagerly awaiting the release of Quidditch Champions, so that we could try our hand at the various positions in the wizarding sport and win match after match. A game that does just that, in any case, since it lets you take to the skies on a broomstick in the position of your choice: chasing the souaffle as a chaser, sending bats at opposing players as a beater, defending goals as a goalkeeper or hunting for the golden snitch as acatcher.
Its strong point: a single-player/story mode to familiarize yourself with the gameplay, followed by a multiplayer mode to play as a team at a given position and try to win the match with your teammates. Whether you're a chaser, beater, keeper or catcher, you'll need to master the rudiments of Quidditch (and gameplay) before you can actually start a game. The lengthy tutorial may put some people off, but you'll get the hang of it, provided you take part in the friendly practice matches on the Weasley house pitch.
In terms of gameplay, it's both simple and complex, and you'll have to go over it several times to integrate the various possibilities for moving your broom (acceleration, turning, skidding, etc.). And how does it play in a match? It's pretty chaotic, with every move and every sign indicating the different balls not being very clear. It's easy to get lost, but once you've mastered all the codes, it's pretty straightforward. And don't forget, there's a big change in the rules: whereas capturing the Golden Snitch normally ends the match and earns you 150 points, this isn't the case here: in the game, capturing the Golden Snitch only earns you 30 points and doesn't end the match, for the sake of game balance (and we totally understand).
Graphically speaking, Harry Potter Quidditch Champions is rather pretty, with a Fortnite-like vibe, but still suffers from a few display problems, when your game doesn't crash. All the same, Harry Potter Quidditch Champions is a pretty fun game to try out, especially if you're a fan of the wizarding sport. The only regret is the lack of missions to stimulate the game, which is rather repetitive, and the cosmetic items aren't enough to make up for this lack of renewed novelty. Now all you have to do is get on your broomstick and make up your own mind!
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions promises to be a promising game for fans of the saga, offering a competitive multiplayer experience dedicated to Quidditch. It's sure to delight fans of the wizarding world!
