Are you into Harry Potter, sports and in Île-de-France? We have got you covered with Quidditch, the famous sport practiced in Harry Potter by wizards. There is a Muggle version (for humans without magical powers, us then), the Muggle Quidditch. The goal is to score as many times as possible to win the game, standing on brooms – but not flying of course.
The community created around the Harry Potter saga is so big that Quidditch is practiced all around the world and even has its very own federation. Adapted in 2005, Quidditch involves about fifty clubs in France, including a French Cup, a European Cup and a World Cup. France even won the European Cup in 2015! In addition to be strictly mixed, teams are both open to adults and children.
So, where to practice Quidditch in Paris and Île-de-France? The interactive map of the French Quidditch Federation shows a club in Yvelines and three in Paris generally providing a free trial session. The Headless Hunt team plays in Clayes-sous-Bois, Yvelines. The other three clubs are set in Vincennes: Olympiens Paris Quidditch, Titans Paris Quidditch and Paris Frog Quidditch.
In the United States, the Quidditch federation recently announced they are intending to change name to move away from the universe created by J.K. Rowling following her transphobic statements.
So, are you ready to get on a broom and catch the Golden Snitch?
