Fortnite takes education a step further with the creation of a virtual Holocaust museum. Endorsed by Epic Games, this project initiated by an American aims to raise awareness of history among a young, international audience. With over 500 million players, this revolutionary virtual experience promises to broaden the scope of historical education.

Fortnite, the famous online multiplayer video game fromEpic Games, never ceases to surprise with its original initiatives! Beyond combat and entertainment, the game is evolving into a genuine educational tool. And with good reason: on August 2, the game's publisher approved an ambitious project: the creation of a virtual museum dedicated to theHolocaust. The museum, designed by Luc Bernard, the inventor of the first educationalHolocaust game, aims to reach a young, international audience, particularly Fortnite players. The museum's access code is 4491-8501-3730.

Fortnite already offers a variety of virtual events, such as concerts and exclusive trailer broadcasts. This time, theHolocaust Virtual Museum promises to be a game-changer in education. According to Luc Bernard (citing an NBC News article), 80% of Americans don't visit museums. Thanks to Fortnite, this educational resource is becoming more accessible. To preserve respect for virtual space, Epic Games has announced that it has deactivated the ability to "break" constructions via the pickaxe, as well as the use of "emotes", those typical reactions that players can perform to communicate.

The virtual museum in Fortnite exploresHolocaust-related topics, including often overlooked themes such as North African Jews or LGBTQ+ people. Luc Bernard has also worked on otherHolocaust-related video game projects, including the free-to-play game The Light in the Darkness. The idea of using Fortnite's massive audience of over 500 million registered players as an educational platform is part of a wider trend of using video games for studious purposes.

An initiative that marks an important step in the evolution of gaming as an educational and creative tool. With lower costs than a physical museum and a global reach, this virtual experience has the potential to raise awareness and educate a new generation about an essential chapter in history. The project, which aims to captivate a young audience and honor memory in a respectful way, symbolizes the fusion of technology and education, and the impact that video games can have beyond entertainment.

As a reminder,Epic Games' software had already set up such a project, around Martin Luther King, at the end of 2021.
