Like the Ballon d'Or for soccer, there is an awards ceremony for the world's best cyclists, also created by the group that owns L'Équipe. Recognized since 1992, the award returns for the second time to the Pavillon Gabriel on December 6, 2024.
While everyone is familiar with the famous Ballon d'Or ceremony, where all the greatest footballers of the moment flock to receive highly-anticipated trophies, the Vélo d'Or is a little less well known. And yet, this prize has been recognized by riders the world over since 1992, when it was instituted by Vélo Magazine, a French monthly magazine specializing in cycling and belonging to the same press group as L'Équipe and France Football. So what could be more fitting than an official ceremony in due form, for the second time at the Pavillon Gabriel, on December 6, 2024 ?
Presented by L'Équipe journalist Claire Bricogne and former cyclist David Millar, the ceremony will recognize the best male and female cyclists in the world and in France. Even if you only follow the Tour de France, you'll recognize many of the Grande Boucle riders among the nominees. You can follow the ceremony live on the L'Équipe platform.
