The Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France is 80 years old and will celebrate this event on Friday September 15, 2017 at the Maison de la Radio! Since June 1, 1937, after its creation by former French post office and telecommunications service Minister, Robert Jardillier, the radio-symphonic orchestra aims at taking part in Parisian studio shows and programs.
Moreover, to celebrate music in France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France offers us a top-notch show with the formation three musical forces. For two hours, the Philhar revives Stravinski’s The Rite of Spring, that has lost nothing of its eruptive power, as well as Debussy’s Nocturnes and three unknown pieces by Ravel: Tout est lumière (1901), La Nuit (1902) and L’Aurore (1905), short pieces written for the Prix de Rome.
The 141 musicians will be directed by Mikko Franck and accompanied by soprano Barbara Assouline, tenor Pascal Bourgeois and the Maîtrise de Radio France. The concert will also be broadcasted live on France Musique radio for music lovers who would not have their tickets in time.
