The Orchestre de Paris invites you to two exceptional concerts on Wednesday June 5 and Thursday June 6, 2019 at the Philharmonie de Paris. Conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock, the Orchestre de Paris will honor the important works of black American composers who enriched the music of the 20th century. And with our special offer of one free ticket for every one purchased, now's the time to take advantage!

The Philharmonie de Paris has just unveiled the program for its new 2019-2020 season. For the occasion, many events are not to be missed, such as weekends dedicated to Max Richter,Iceland and Rita Mitsouko, not forgetting John Cale concerts and the evening around Damon Albarn's new musical and visual project.

In anticipation of these future events, the Philharmonie de Paris awaits you on Wednesday June 5 and Thursday June 6, 2019 for the " Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen " concert. On June 5 and 6, theOrchestre de Paris will pay tribute to two powerful works by black American composers who enriched 20th-century music.

Conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock, theOrchestre de Paris will revisit William Grant Still 's"Poem for Orchestra" and William Levi Dawson's"The Bond of Africa".

William Grant Still and William Levi Dawson both laid the foundations of black American symphonic music. In his Poem, the former displays astonishing ardor, and entrusts the strings with languorous flights worthy of a Hollywood film. For his part, William Levi Dawson also mixes styles in his delightful Bond of Africa, created by legendary conductor Leopold Stokowski.

George Gershwin's"Rhapsody in Blue", the very emblem of American music, and Bernd Alois Zimmermann's Concerto, halfway between serialism and jazz, are also on the program. Finally, Jenny Peña Campo 's Suite cubaine will take us to the shores of Cuba.

On June 5 and 6, 2019, the Philharmonie 's Salle Pierre Boulez will be transformed, offering 800 standing places at a price of 10 euros.

Come and meet the musicians of the Orchestre de Paris on Wednesday June 5 at 7pm, in the conference room (free admission).
