His name may not ring a bell and yet he became the new Italian indie pop artist to keep a close eye on.
Edoardo D’Erme – also known as Calcutta – has released his first opus in 2015: Mainstream. And the success was immediate thanks to rousing songs about desire, love and solitude.
With his strong sense for melodies, his sharp pop sensitivity and his talent as a songwriter, Calcutta keeps on going on and releases in 2018 “Evergreen”. The success is such that in the summer 2018, the artist plays sold out at Rome Stadio Francioni in front of 30,000 people.
Some bands start hearing about the phenomenon coming from Italy such as Versailles-based band Phoenix inviting him to come and play as guest for their own shows.
If you haven’t heard about his new rousing pop sound, don’t miss Calcutta live this fall in Paris. Meet on Monday November 25, 2019 at Paris Elysée Montmartre.
Until then, we leave you to it with “Sorriso (Milano Dateo)”:
