To celebrate Komitas’ 150th birthday (1869-1935, Villejuif), come and discover the music wrote by this legendary Armenian composer compared to two of his French contemporaries’, Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy, for a unique concert at La Madeleine Church.
For this exceptional concert, Komitas’ works will be performed by the Ensemble 2e2m, conducted by Pierre Roullier with new orchestrations for musical ensemble by composer Petros Shoujounian.
Beyond the praised figure of the Armenian culture whose private and troubled fate blends into the Armenian genocide, Komitas is a modern musician who managed to use his scientific discoveries to create a polymodal and polyrhythmic music, that is still explored by avant-garde composers.
With Armenian soloists Anna Kasyan (soprano) and Adam Barro (bass-baritone).
Komitas’ works: Al aylugh, Andouni, Garoun a, Hoy Nazan, Kanche Kroung Kanche, Kele, Krung, Le Le Yaman, Oror, Tchinar ess, Tzidernag, Voghberg.
