A vocal signature that we love, a communicative energy and powerful and catchy songs... This Sunday evening, February 12, 2023, the Norwegians of Leprous set the Salle Pleyel in Paris on fire during a one and a half hour set. Back on this concert more than successful!

Progressive metal was in the spotlight this Sunday, February 12 in Paris. A little more than two years after their last show in the capital, the Norwegian band Leprous was already back in the City of Light with a show to be discovered this time at La Salle Pleyel.

Before finding the unique voice ofEinar Solberg in live, the Parisian public was entitled to not one, but two opening acts. The hostilities began at 7pm with Kalandra. The group led by the singer Katrine Stenbekk is in the folk music and melancholic Nordic. A set all in softness and power, carried by the ethereal voice of Katrine.

We continue the musical discoveries with Monuments. Originally from Great Britain, this progressive metal band is not at its beginnings, since it already has four albums to its credit, including the latest"In Stasis". The band knows the stage well and the singer seems to be very comfortable with it. Andy Cizek, singer of the formation since 2019, is even a real stage beast.

With his physique of first of the class, the artist detonates in a remarkable way and puts us full of ears by revealing not less than 3 different voices, including grunt and screamo. Whether you like or not the metalcore style of the band, you have to admit that the band delivered a performance of a rare energy, ideal to get ready for the long awaited show of Leprous.

It's at 9pm sharp that Leprous arrives on the stage of the Salle Pleyel. Accompanied for the occasion by the talented cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne, the 5 Norwegians regaled us with a rich setlist composed only of hits, but also a beautiful scenography punctuated by a nice play of light and the always perfect voice ofEinar Solberg. Because Leprous is one of those few bands recognizable thanks to the vocal signature of its leader. Einar, it's a voice mixing clear singing and growl which transports us from the first notes. The singer, who also occasionally goes behind the synthesizer, captures the audience's attention with his undeniable charisma. The drummer Baard Kolstad 's playing also impresses, with jerky beats, but always mastered.

And then, of course, there are the tracks of Leprous, whose music is unclassifiable. It must be said that the influences are numerous and diverse, going from progressive rock to jazz, through pure metal. This evening, the Nordic group honored several of its previous albums, including the latest one,"Aphelion", by interpreting for example "Have You Ever?" as an opening track, the excellent " Running Low " or the sublime " Castaway Angels " dedicated to Ukrainians. The euphoria rises again when Leprous plays the catchy " From the Flame ", the bewitching " Below " and the powerful " Slave ".

On stage, Einar Solberg does not hesitate to speak from time to time, as when he reveals the few words he knows in French, " fourmilière ", " ornithorynque " and " marmotte ".

To end this one hour and a half set in beauty, Leprous chooses to finish us by interpreting " The sky is red " a tasty metal song of more than 10 minutes! Euphoric, bewitching at times, and truly invigorating... this concert of Leprous at the Salle Pleyel shows how much this Norwegian band is now part of the must-see metal scene!
