It is via a statement published on its social networks this March 16 that the Maroquinerie has announced the unexpected news: the small concert hall, located on rue Boyer in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, is forced to close its doors for an unknown period of time.
Following an " abracadabra and highly improbable situation " that occurred during Lawrence's concert on March 12, the Maroquinerie now finds itself in " the obligation to repair many parts and perform all the necessary checks " for the proper functioning of the system before it can once again welcome the public " in optimal and regulatory safety conditions."
" We therefore regretfully announce the closure of our venue for a period that we do not know at this time. We will keep you informed of any cancellations and/or postponements of dates impacted by this incident in the coming days," continues La Maroquinerie in this statement.
But then, what exactly happened on March 12 in the 20th district of Paris? As reported by the venue, a chase between the local police and a fleeing vehicle ended on rue Boyer. The car in question crashed into cars parked in the street, before ending its race in the Vélib terminal located a few meters from La Maroquinerie. In its mad dash, the vehicle tore off many power cables, causing a power cut in part of the neighborhood, and at the same time triggering the hall's fire safety system. "Due to the lack of a sufficient power supply, the system was " heavily damaged ", add the teams of La Maroquinerie.
These technical problems have forced the Parisian venue to temporarily close its doors, for a period to be specified in the coming days.
