To be discovered during two exceptional performances, scheduled on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 April 2023, this 45-minute work, which is at once instrumental, vocal and electronic, is by Luke Styles. It is built around the constellations visible from Australia, using poems by contemporary Australian authors, field recordings, a video creation and electronic music.
For this new dreamlike piece, the composer invites us to explore our vision of the universe, the heavens and the earth. So what exactly should we expect? On the music side, the piece will feature tenor Michael Smallwood and baritone Damien Pass, as well as nearly 20 musicians from the orchestra Le Balcon, conducted by Alphonse Cemin.
As for the poems, the audience will be treated to texts by contemporary Australian authors such as Bill Yidumduma Harney, Hugh Cairns, Amanda Johnson, Renee Schipp, David Malouf and Margaret Bradstock.
See you on April 15 and 16, 2023 at the musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac (Théâtre Claude Lévi-Strauss) to discover the result.
