" Wannabe ", " Viva Forever ", " Say You'll Be There ", " Stop ", " Spice Up Your Life ", " 2 Become 1 "... Who hasn't sung or danced to these legendary Spice Girls hits? Despite the group's break-up just over 6 years after their formation, and with many nostalgic fans hoping for a full-scale reformation of the legendary British girl band, the Spice Girls are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.
The group was born in London in 1994. The artists soon got down to work. The girl band, made up of Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton, released their first single " Wannabe " in 1995. The song became a worldwide hit, topping the charts in over thirty-seven countries and selling seven million copies! Hit after hit, the Spice Girls became a veritable social phenomenon, dubbed " Spice Mania " by the media. But the Spice Girls ' career was also marked by scandals and rumors.
OnTuesday, July 2, 2024, TMC offers a look back at the incredible history of this girls' band. Entitled " Spice Girls: 30 years of rumors, secrets and scandals " , this never-before-seen documentary attempts to explain the reasons behind this success, thanks to several archives, such as the casting of the future Spice Girls.
The documentary also features " confidences from those who worked with them, such as their very first manager or their singing teacher ", says the TF1 group in a release. " This documentary also reveals the intimacy of the Spice Girls and their life within the group," it adds.
Directed by Ophély Bouchakour and Marine Wernimont, the documentary " Spice Girls: 30 ans de rumeurs, secrets et scandales " can be seen on TMC on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 9:25pm.
