Angélique Kidjo in a piano-voice concert at the Sainte-Chapelle: this is the musical event not to be missed on Monday, October 7, 2024 in Paris. For one evening only, the sublime Parisian edifice opens its doors to the Franco-Beninese singer, accompanied on piano by Thierry Vaton.
The occasion for the artist and huge icon of African music to celebrate his 40-year career and perform some of his finest songs, including"We We","Agolo", "Wombo Lombo","Adouma", "Afirika","Batonga" and the recently unveiled"Sunlight to my Soul".
Angélique Kidjo launched her artistic career in 1980. Since then, she has released over fifteen albums. The singer is also known for having recorded a host of songs for films, series and documentaries, and for her many collaborations (Tina Turner, Herbie Hancock, Johnny Clegg...). Proof of her renown, Angélique Kidjo is a five-time Grammy Award winner, as well as a laureate of the Académie Charles Cros. She also sang at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympic Games on July 23, 2021.
This concert-event byAngélique Kidjo is organized as part of"Monuments en francophonie", but also to coincide with the opening weekend of the exhibition "Révélation ! Contemporary art from Benin". This new installation is scheduled to run at the Conciergerie from October 4, 2024 to January 5, 2025.
