Not far from the BnF François Mitterand, BULAC is spread over three floors, each offering complementary services tailored to students and teleworkers alike. On the garden level, you'll find group rooms, day carrels - small, secluded rooms where you can study in peace and quiet (booking required) - and even night carrels (reserved for researchers), as well as a large research bank where you can pick up a book you've been meaning to borrow. It's here, on the garden level, that you can consult the library's rarest or most fragile documents, in the Reserve room.
On the first floor, you'll find the press and periodicals, while the mezzanine houses the more general language collections. There's also a cafeteria where you can grab a bite to eat all day, and on sunny days, you can take full advantage of the sunny terrace of INALCO, the language institute located in the same building as BULAC ( with free access for all). A reprography service is also available on site. Throughout the day, you can work on the three levels of BULAC, in the reading rooms, but also on the fixed computer workstations! Registration is free of charge, and only needs to be renewed each year.
Open Monday to Saturday non-stop from 10am to 10pm, BULAC is the ideal place to revise, even more so if you're a student of non-Western languages, as it's here that you'll find one of the largest collections of works on the languages and cultures of Asia, Africa, Balkan Europe, the Arab world... In fact, the documents are color-coded to help visitors find their way around: yellow for the Arab world, red forAsia, gray forAfrica, green forBalkan Europe, dark blue forOceania and turquoise forAmerica and Greenland. Please note, however, that there is no Wi-Fi! Before you come, make sure you can share your connection with your phone.
To revise for your midterms, exams or baccalauréat, or to telework in a free library, head for BULAC in the 13th arrondissement!
