The "Empress of Beauty" comes to Paris... The Musée d'art et d'histoire du Judaïsme is devoting an exhibition to Helena Rubinstein, entitled L'Aventure de la Beauté, from March 20 to August 25, 2019. A retrospective that offers a full immersion in the personal collection of this Polish industrialist who founded the eponymous cosmetics company, through a plethora of documents, objects, photos, engravings, clothes, tapestries, paintings, sculptures and other works.
Among the artists on show are Marc Chagall, Louis Marcoussis, Elie Nadelman, Michel Kikoïne, Sarah Lipska and Maurice Utrillo. An exhibition that retraces the life and history of this exceptional woman, whom Jean Cocteau called "the empress of beauty". A great lady who"reinvented the culture of beauty by adapting it to modernity", and who began collecting primitive arts and paintings at a very early age.
Helena Rubinstein also posed for the greats: Raoul Dufy, Salvador Dali, Marie Laurencin... So many artists who captured the beauty and refinement of this passionate woman. In the end, this exhibition attempts to show all the facets of the art collector's life in the cities that meant so much to her: Krakow, where she was born, but also Paris, Vienna, London, New York, Tel-Aviv and Melbourne. It's also an opportunity to find out more about one of the first women to bring out the beauty in everyone.
