From surfers from the Californian coast to the Tokyo Olympics, the skate culture has come a long way! In the 1950’s, skateboard was considered as a child’s toy. But very quickly, this street sport managed to become a staple in the street culture and has become a way for street-artists to express themselves.
This is this story Fluctuart will tell from September 1 to October 14, 2022, with the free The Art of Skate exhibition. Over 120 surf, skate and long boards are given pride of place in a multi-disciplinary tour shining a light on the culture of skate.
Over 80 artists from the U.S. and Europe unveil their pictures, videos, customized sneakers, murals, original pieces, flyers, fashion accessories, boards… These art objects tell the evolution of practices and cultures of skate in a staged tour. Photographers, musicians, video-makers, writers, graffiti artists, as well as companies and brands take part in this major exhibition covering over 200sqm of surface.
Fluctuart urban art center tells us the fascinating story of skate, a fashion object, art item and symbol of street culture. An object that conquered the whole world without never leaving its popular image behind. Who feels tempted by this fabulous street art exhibition?
