What is our relationship to death and the future of the body? A question that is answered by theexhibition De Pronfundis Ascendam, which is held at theAbbaye de Maubuisson from October 16, 2022 to March 5, 2023. An exhibition that evokes more particularly"the troubling relationship we have with our departed, while they are physically present in the world of the living: in the traces they leave behind them, under our feet, through tributes that are paid to them...".
Theexhibition also and especially"the former residents of the place, including abbesses and nuns, whose tombs, bones and personal effects were exhumed during the archaeological excavations", dialoguing with the works of 14 contemporary artists, such as Guillaume Constantin, Julie C. Fortier, Cristina Hoffmann, Henriette Menes, Lei Saito, Camille Vidal-Naquet or Paola Vobauré.
Work on embalming with Fabrice Elie-Hubert, Henriette Menes and Camille Vidal-Naquet, odors of the deceased and remembrance with Julie C. Fortier, interactive works with Cristina Hoffmann... An approach to death that is as rough as it is touching, calling upon our own experience and questioning us on how we integrate the death of our loved ones in our mourning and life process. To be discovered without delay!
