From February 18 to May 28, 2023, the Cité de l'Économie invites you to make decisions for the planet, as if you were a leader, in order to become aware of the stakes of the energy transition in a fun way!

Energy consumption, the French are watching it closely at the moment! With the difficulties linked to the crisis in Ukraine, everyone is watching carefully the smallest watt consumed. Citéco, the Cité de l'Économie, is offering its new exhibition, from February 18 to May 28, 2023, to give you a better understanding of energy sobriety and to help you learn how to deal with the energy transition that has been underway for several years. Thanks to an immersive setting, you are invited to make strategic choices like a leader!

Will you favour economic regulation? Do you trust the mechanisms of the carbon market? What use will you make of nuclear energy? How will you apply the effort of sobriety to our modes of production and consumption? So many questions that you will have to answer, with the objective, at the end of the exhibition, to have reached carbon neutrality by 2050 (and it is not won)! It's an opportunity to take a closer look at issues that affect us all in a fun way, and why not try to apply them in everyday life.

After an explanation of Jamy around the vast question of the energy, we leave to the assault of the exhibition with our small sheet to punch. At each station, you can make three different choices, as if you were an elected official who had to make a decision. To help you (or question you even more), three people of different professions, age and gender give you their opinion on what you want to do, just like the people on the positions of political figures. A good way to take into account all points of view and to put yourself in the place of our leaders for a short while.

Nuclear energy, dependence on fossil fuels, housing insulation, electricity storage, so many essential points in the energy transition that France must absolutely achieve. After answering all these difficult questions, you will know your typical governance profile! On our side, we "wish to protect the environment", while some will have"you trust science" or one of the 6 available profiles! We can also observe the majority choices of the other users of this interactive game and situate ourselves in relation to the population.

Finally, you can take advantage of a small simulation on a tablet to try to reach carbon neutrality, by observing the advantages and disadvantages of wind power, nuclear power, biomethanization and many other elements that are supposed to help us change the world by 2050!

The cultural program around the exhibition

Conference and debates

  • Facing climate change

Citéco invites the specialist Michel Derdevet, scientific advisor of the exhibition, and Jean Jouzel, gold medalist of the CNRS and Nobel Prize winner with the IPCC, to whom we owe in particular the first study formally establishing the link between global warming and CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Climate change, energy crisis... Where are we now? But also what can we do to become actors of the transition? Can we act on an individual scale? What can we expect from our society?

Thursday February 16th at 6pm

  • Comics to explain the energy transition

As part of the "Energy, So Watt? " exhibition , journalist Laetitia Gayet will focus on documentary comics, which are enjoying great success in bookstores. The guests will take turns presenting formats (magazine, album) and recently published titles that highlight thestate and future of our planet's energy resources .

Saturday, March 18 at 3pm

  • Energy and Climate Words

"Global warming ", "greenhouse gases" ...When talking about the climate, certain words or expressions arecommonly used in the public debate .But do we have a shared definition ? "Albedo", "Watt", "Hydrogen", "Radiative Forcing", and many others are more difficult to understand! Christian de Perthuis invitesus todecode these terms, to better understand before acting.

Saturday, April 8 at 3pm

  • History of energies

Starting from the idea that the evolution of the exploitation of energy sources is linked to that of societies and techniques, the historian of science Jean-Baptiste Fressoz will question the concepts of "anthropocene" and "energy transition", at the heart of current mutations and issues.

Saturday, March 25 at 3 pm

Workshops

  • The electricity mix game

You are the head of your country and your goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. A huge task and heavy decisions ahead! With this new game, created by Citéco and tested from March 2023, understand the stakes of the energy transition by making your own " electric mix ".

From 14 years old - Wednesday and Sunday at 2 pm

  • The climate mural

Climate change is a complex collective problem, but it is still very poorly understood by the general public. However, it is necessary to understand a problem in order to find solutions. This collaborative workshop, which has exceeded 500,000 participants worldwide, aims to give you the keys to act for the transition.
