To mark International Women's Rights Day, the Château de Versailles is celebrating the women who have left their mark on the palace's history: queens, princesses, favorites and women who served the court. From March 5 to 10, 2024, enjoy guided, theatrical tours and a nocturne.

The Château de Versailles is offering us a lovely program to mark International Women's Rights Day for a few days, from March 5 to 10, 2024. As you can imagine, in addition to Marie-Antoinette, many other women have left their mark on the history of the Château de Versailles, and indeed on history itself!

Their imprint can be found in every room of the château, in sculptures and paintings from walls to ceilings. And it's not just the queens and princesses who have left their mark: painters, singers and musicians have also left their mark on the cultural life of the château. Make no mistake about it, the château was far from being the perfect city for ladies, but the court provided a multitude of opportunities for the women of the time like nowhere else.
