The House of Guerlain is celebrating the 170th anniversary of the Flacon aux Abeilles with a free photo exhibition, to be discovered until September 4, 2023, in the heart of its Champs-Élysées showcase. Designed by Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain for Eugénie de Montijo, on the occasion of her marriage to Napoleon III, this exceptional work is by far the oldest perfume bottle! The House pays tribute to this emblematic creation by inviting eleven artists to revisit the Flacon aux Abeilles in an exhibition entitled Chère Eugénie.
These women artists have each created a contemporary work, revealing their own intimate dialogue with the Empress of France, through the perfume bottle. They have captured the essence of the perfume bottle through a variety of artistic mediums, from photography to installation to painting. The diversity of approaches, techniques, formats and framing, creates an unspeakable harmony between the images.
Great names such as Charlotte Rampling, Audrey Tautou, ORLAN, Delphine Diallo, Valérie Belin or Delfina Carmona have lent themselves to the game. Their unique works explore the themes of light, the relationship with nature, bees, beauty, love of art, freedom and transmission. The highlight of the show? Guerlain unveils the Flacon aux Abeilles de l'Impératrice, straight from the archives for the occasion
