Attention fashion and handicraft enthusiasts! Thefree exhibition "Sur le fil: broderie et tissage", which caused a sensation in Dakar, is now on show at Galerie du 19M in Paris/Aubervilliers, until July 30, 2023.
Textiles are revealed in all their forms through some thirty works and installations by nearly thirty artists, craftsmen, manufacturers and collectives from Senegal, Mali, South Africa and France. Some of the projects are even the result of collaborations between Aubervilliers and Dakar, combining creativity and cultural exchange.
The travellingfashion exhibition, renamed "Sur le fil: de Dakar à Paris", allows visitors to explore Senegal's priceless craft skills. From weaving and embroidery to painting, photography and installations, it fuses artistic disciplines to offer a unique experience!
For over two months, Galerie du 19M will also be offering a dynamic cultural program of workshops, events and conferences, hosted by guest artists and craftspeople. The aim is to showcase handicrafts, pass on know-how and inspire the general public.
