Here's a date not to be missed: on December 2 and 3, 2023, we're off to the Musée de la Poste to enjoy a host of free family activities.
In December, young and old alike enjoy one chocolate a day, with Advent calendars. The Musée de la Poste has decided to give us an even bigger present: on December 2 and 3, 2023, the museum is organizing its Family Weekend. Two days entirely free of charge for all visitors, during which they can enjoy a wide range of activities.
With Christmas just a few weeks away, the cultural center is making us dream with its fun and educational program. Shows, storytelling tours, manual workshops, exhibitions... It's all about having fun, immersing yourself in the festive atmosphere and discovering the world of La Poste with your family. There's no need to take out your wallet to take part in the various activities prepared for the occasion. On the other hand, you'll need to roll up your sleeves: those letters to Santa won't be writing themselves!
Here's the detailed program for this first Family Weekend:
SATURDAY DECEMBER 2 AND SUNDAY DECEMBER 3
- Visite contée Souvenir de vacances enchantées - 11am to 12pm
From age 3
A series of postcards has been sent to the Musée de La Poste. They're fabulous, but we don't know who sent them... Will we find out who these souvenirs belong to? Where will we go? What fantastic stories and beautiful landscapes await us? With this storytelling tour, children take a stroll through the exhibition's world of vacation images. At each stage, a story, song, dance, poem or finger story punctuates the journey, inviting young and old alike to escape into these postcard landscapes. A gentle approach to understanding what a manufactured image is.
- Make-up workshop - 1:45pm to 5:45pm
Continuous make-up sessions, led by a professional make-up artist for children. This is your chance to transform yourself into a superhero, a Christmas elf or even your favorite animal! To keep young and old alike waiting, a variety of activities will be on offer: coloring, decoupage, collage...
- Show Un Noël en chantier + Letter to Santa workshop - 3pm to 5pm
From 3 years
Cunégonde is a dynamic girl who lives alone in her modest house. Christmas is approaching, but she's not worried about it, as she's not expecting anyone... Or so she thought, until a strange letter carrier brings her a rather unusual letter. This unforeseen event turns her daily life upside down, and gives her one of the best moments of her life: an enchanted Christmas in the making!
The 1-hour show is followed by a 45-minute Letter to Santa workshop. The workshop combines the practice of writing with plastic art. Together, parents and children create their own letter to Santa Claus, using classic codes of correspondence. At the end of the activity, this artistic letter is deposited directly in a special letterbox. Destination: Santa's house... at the North Pole!
SATURDAY DECEMBER 2 ONLY
- La petite fabrique des cartes postales workshop - 2.30pm to 4pm
From age 7
During this workshop visit, visitors discover the new Musée de La Poste exhibition, "Nouvelles du Paradis, la carte postale de vacances", and the codes of the tourist postcard. After a short tour revealing the other side of an unsuspected industry, an introduction to photography will enable participants to create their own vacation postcards. From taking the shot to modifying the image, this fun and educational workshop will reveal what goes on behind the scenes of (post)cards!
- Visit to the permanent exhibition - 4pm to 5:30pm
From age 7
But who invented the Post Office? Is it true that letter carriers do everything by bike? And how are stamps made? To answer these questions, the Musée de La Poste invites you to (re)discover the various exhibitions with the help of mediators. Join one of them for a general tour of the museum's collections.
EXCLUSIVELY ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3
- Christmas decorating workshop - 2.30pm to 4pm
It's almost Christmas! Let's get to work on decorating the tree! Using paper, scissors, felt-tip pens and a variety of objects, the museum invites you to make your own Christmas decorations to send to yourself or loved ones by post!
It's a weekend that should delight children and parents alike! Don't wait any longer, come to the Musée de la Poste.
