Two artists, two different visions of art, one exhibition to bring them together: the Fondation Pernod Ricard presents La société des spectacles. From February 13 to April 20, 2024, this free exhibition brings together the works of Farah Atassi and Ulla von Brandenburg, revealing a behind-the-scenes look at the world of entertainment.
Several paintings and videos are brought together in this surprising journey. On one side, we discover the works ofUlla von Brandenburg, a German artist greatly inspired by literature and theater. Using fabrics as a canvas, a set, the artist uses colors, shapes and movements to tell us about her vision of dance, theater and music. These monumental creations immerse us in the artist's delicate, poetic universe, where the living takes center stage.
On the other hand, we find the work of Farah Atassi, a Belgian artist with a penchant for abstraction and figuration. Her paintings share a love of color, the stage and spectacle... And yet, unlike Ulla von Brandenburg's video creations, Farah Atassi's paintings seem to be a real "freeze frame".
The painter seems to want to open the curtain, to give us a glimpse of the show, simply to reveal an immobile scene, in which the characters are frozen, stopped dead in their tracks by our curious, indiscreet gaze.
The two artists respond to and complement each other, with works that question the world of show business and the stage, that universe between artifice and sincerity. Two visions around the same passion, the same universe: come and visit this original exhibition at the Pernod Ricard Foundation.
