Contemporary Nordic fashion invites itself to Bicolore, Maison du Danemark, its stronghold on the Champs-Élysées. Entitled"Liminal Objects", this free exhibition will run from March 22 to May 19, 2024 at Bicolore, the platform dedicated to Danish art and cultural experiences, perched on the institution's 2nd floor. Discover a world where the boundary between fashion andart blurs, allowing a revolution of concepts and aesthetics to blossom.
Led by curator Ane Lynge-Jorlén, "Liminal Objects" unveils a cohort of eight visionary Nordic designers and artists, living in Paris, graduating from Paris fashion schools or showing at Paris Fashion Week. Jenny Hytönen, Ida-Simone Brerup, Fredrik Tjærandsen, Petra Fagerström, Ellen Hodakova, Cassie Augusta Jørgensen, Louise Lyngh Bjerregaard and Kristine Sehested-Blad move the lines to reinvent the canons of creativity: they question notions of material, function, body and identity in fashion and art.
At the heart of this fashion exhibition is the notion of liminality, a transitional phase where opposites coexist in perfect symbiosis. The pieces on display defy convention and invite us to rethink the boundaries of disciplines, while celebrating recycling, upcycling and artisanal fabrication. These innovative designers are redefining the fashion landscape by giving a second life to neglected objects, experimenting with materials and pushing back stereotypes.
