Lafayette Anticipations is dedicating an exhibition to artist Mohamad Abdouni, entitled Soft Skills, from October 16 to November 27, 2024. This small exhibition, located on the top floor of the foundation, plunges us into the artist's intimate and complex universe, exploring his relationship with Bekaa, his region of origin.
Mohamad Abdouni, photographer and filmmaker, is characterized by a deeply relational approach to his art. He strives to"preserve the stories that are condemned every day to be erased". Through photographs, publications and films, he forges links with the people who entrust him with their archives, establishing a delicate connection between past and present. The Soft Skills exhibition at Lafayette Anticipations offers an immersion into this practice, where care and tenderness combine to bring personal narratives to life.
In"Soft Skills", Abdouni adopts an introspective perspective, revisiting his own memories and his relationship with the Bekaa region, where he grew up. He interrogates the voices and bodies that populate his imagination, superimposing temporalities, relationships and desires. This approach allows visitors to discover a unique emotional cartography, where each image tells a story of resilience and passion, from often marginalized communities.
An opportunity to discover perspectives rarely represented in contemporary art. Ready to dive into art at Lafayette Anticipations?
