A surprising and inclusive experience awaits us at the Grande Halle de la Villette, from November 14 to 19, 2024: discover World Unseen, a free photo exhibition accessible to the general public... And for the visually impaired and blind!

A photography exhibition for the visually impaired and blind? It's quite unusual... And that's why the World Unseen exhibition was created. Canon France, the Fédération des Aveugles et Amblyopes de France and the Tactile Studio agency have joined forces to invent a new way of "seeing" art.

From November 14 to 19, 2024, the Grande Halle de la Villette will host this free exhibition designed for the visually impaired as well as the sighted. The experience of visiting an exhibition has been rethought to include a wider audience, and make theart of photography accessible to as many people as possible.

World Unseen presents the work of several renowned photographers, including Sebastião Salgado, Pulitzer Prize-winner Muhammed Muheisen, Ulla Lohmann, wildlife photographer Stéphane Granzotto, Nikos Aliagas and multi-award-winning photographer Brent Stirton... These artists reveal the world, its wonders and hidden treasures.

What makes this exhibition so special, however, is the way the photographs are presented. The 12 featured photographs are printed in relief. Visitors can discover the images with their fingertips. Braille and audio descriptions are also provided for each work. In this way, visitors can not only discover the photos in a different way, but also learn more about their history.

Sighted visitors are invited to put themselves in the shoes of visually impaired visitors. The images on display have been altered, obscured or modified: the viewer sees the photograph as if he or she were suffering from glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy.

World Unseen proposes a new, more inclusive experience, to broaden our vision of the world, and adapt uses, so that art is within everyone's reach. Discover it for free at La Villette.
