Château de Méridon stands majestically in the Vallée de Chevreuse, bearing witness to a rich historical and cultural past. From its medieval origins, through its transformation into a cultural center, to its recent renovation in 2022, each period has enriched its heritage. The château's new owners, with their avant-garde vision, have undertaken major works to elevate Méridon to the ranks of the most sought-after event venues.
Château de Méridon, which originated in the 13th century as a fiefdom under the châtellenie de Chevreuse, has undergone several remarkable transformations over the centuries. Initially, it consisted of a hotel and a house with gardens and land, evolving into a manor house with various facilities and gardens, of which today only a few ruins remain, still visible in the garden. In 1601, it was first recognized as a château. During the 17th century, it passed through the hands of various families, including that of Guillaume Dugué de Bagnols. In the 19th century, the ruined château was bought by Mr. Marqués di Braga, who rebuilt it in a neo-Renaissancestyle with English and French parkland, covering a total of 7 hectares.
The twentieth century saw Château de Méridon transformed into a place of prestige and history. In 1908, the Marquis de Breteuil bought it and converted it into a château for hunting with hounds, which was subsequently rented out to personalities such as the American ambassador in Paris. Between the two world wars, it was occupied by Madame Sullivan, an American, becoming one of the finest properties in the region. After the Second World War, it was used as an accommodation center, then became an educational center for Dutch farmers before being acquired in 1958 by the Franco-Dutch Cultural Center. In 2013, the château once again became a private property, for receptions and corporate events. Then, in 2022, the château was bought out by a new, experience-oriented management team.
Focus on New Château Events:
In addition to these exclusive events, the château continues to offer a sumptuous setting for weddings and other private celebrations. Its reception rooms, renovated with a touch of modernity, combine elegance and functionality, guaranteeing good times.
The château's park, adorned withcentury-old trees, offers an idyllic setting for walks or outdoor activities. It's a haven of peace for guests wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
The renovation of the château's rooms in April 2023 has given rise to luxurious suites, decorated in a style inspired by the 30s and 40s, Méridon's sumptuous period. Each room is a tribute to refinement and comfort, with high-quality materials and meticulous design. On starry evenings, you can even stay for a royal night.
Château de Méridon is not just an event venue; it's a destination where history, culture and gastronomy come together to offer a unique experience. Whether for a professional or cultural event, or simply for a moment of relaxation, Méridon promises immersion in a world of elegance and luxury.
