Created in 1984 at the request of the Conseil départemental des Hauts-de-Seine, theChemin de fer des Chanteraines association is celebrating its 40th anniversary with an exceptional weekend on May 9, 10, 11 and 12, 2024. It's an opportunity to (re)discover the association's railway heritage, with great entertainment for young and old, and historic locomotives from France and Europe brought in especially for the event.
For several decades, the association's volunteers have been managing, repairing, renovating and driving passengers on the Chemin de fer des Chanteraines, a one-of-a-kind attraction that runs for almost 5 kilometers through the large Parc des Chanteraines in Gennevilliers (92). So, to celebrate this anniversary, the association is organizing an exceptional long weekend over four days, with a host of original events: climb aboard the train pulled by the Vincent locomotive (a Decauville 020T) or a century-old steam locomotive, take a ride on the garden train, visit the hangar where all the railway equipment is maintained and, above all, meet a team of passionate volunteers. Throughout the day, climb aboard the train that runs on the Chanteraines railroad, discover how a locomotive is driven and take a seat on the platform to watch the train pass through the park! A German locomotive from 1921, the 020 Orenstein & Koppel from the Frankfurter Feldbahnmuseum, is the guest of honor at this major event.

Parc des Chanteraines, located in the towns of Villeneuve-la-Garenne and Gennevilliers, is one of the largest green spaces in the Hauts-de-Seine department. As an added bonus, the park also boasts a railroad, where you can board an old-fashioned train on certain days of the month. [Read more]
Board the Chanteraines train on the park's historic railroad. Every day, 5 passenger trains will serve the park's 6 stations, as well as a reconstructed period freight train. Price: €4 per person, free for children under 3.
The association's depot and workshop will be exceptionally open all day, from 10am to 7pm, for the public to discover the tools used to restore and prepare locomotives... Driving lessons are also available. Model railroad stands, souvenir sales, small refreshment stand and catering.
Climb aboard a tiny train
In the Fiancés meadow, the two CFC Miniature circuits will be animated by steam, diesel and electric trains. Adults and children can climb aboard the trains from 2pm to 7pm.
