On the weekend of March 23 and 24, 2024, we're off to Rambouillet, in the Yvelines département, to discover (if you haven't already done so) the Rambolitrain, a small museum dedicated entirely to toy trains. From the historical models of this toy so beloved by children, to the miniature station sets and thehuge network of models (upstairs), the Rambolitrain is well worth a visit, and is ideal for young and old alike. 40 years after its opening in 1984, the museum has reached a new milestone, and invites you to celebrate with the museum's staff overa weekend packed with events!
What's on the program? In addition to the permanent Rambolitrain collections, the Salle Patenôtre in Rambouillet will host a brand-new exhibition featuring six modular layouts on loan from other model railroad clubs, plus a life-size passenger car compartment from the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL, whose most famous trains include the Orient Express)! Finally, to celebrate the museum's 40th anniversary, a brand-new model set created entirely by the Friends of the Museum Association will be presented and inaugurated, including a Sprague Thomson train from the Paris metro, with the Gare de l'Est metro station. For children, there's good news: throughout the weekend, the museum's steam-powered garden train offers young and old the chance to climb aboard for an unusual experience! On Saturday March 23 and Sunday March 24, the Rambolitrain awaits you to celebrate its 40th anniversary!
