The Rosny-sous-Bois railway station in Seine-Saint-Denis is home to a museum that is, to say the least... unusual. Run by volunteers with a passion for railroads, the Musée du Rosny-Rail is a must for all train enthusiasts.

Since 1997, the Rosny-Rail museum has welcomed you on the ground floor of Rosny-sous-Bois station, in the Seine-Saint-Denis département. During your visit, immerse yourself in the history of the railroads, from the first locomotives and passenger carriages to today's high-speed trains (TGV). You'll discover theevolution of the railroad itself, of the track, but also of signalling, rolling stock, train driving techniques... From the end of the 19th century to the present day.

Initially, Rosny-Rail didn't exist. Instead, Rosny was home to a team of train enthusiasts, each with their own collection of station equipment: from this heritage, no longer seen in our modern stations, came the idea of creating a museum worthy of the name, to house all the collections and much more. As soon as the museum was created in 1997, the SNCF, the RATP... have continued to make donations to build up the Rosny-Rail's fine collections, ranging from safety posters for railwaymen to vintage luggage tags and a life-size signal box...

During your visit, everything has been designed to recreate a real journey back in time. You'll start in theold baggage room, before moving on to the first steam locomotives, the signalling system and thelamp maker's workshop. Then it's on to the museum's beautiful model railroad layout, which can be remotely controlled during your visit! Right up to the era of high-speed rail travel and the TGV (Train à grande vitesse), which set new speed records, the museum looks back at all the accessories, carriages, conductor and controller outfits, vintage tickets... A 360° tour takes you behind the scenes of a station, from locomotive operation to the signage used by today's drivers.
