Parc des Chanteraines, located in the towns of Villeneuve-la-Garenne and Gennevilliers, is one of the largest green spaces in the Hauts-de-Seine department. As an added bonus, the park also boasts a railroad, where you can board an old-fashioned train on certain days of the month.

It's one of the most original walks you can do in the Gennevilliers and Villeneuve-la-Garenne area: head for the Parc des Chanteraines, accessible by RER C (Gennevilliers station) to discover this vast green space, perfect for a stroll along the Seine, around the Lac des Tilliers, to observe the various species of birds... And take advantage of the large lawns to relax, read or play! At the heart of this immense 87-hectare park lies the Chanteraines railroad, which winds its way through the entire park... Aboard a vintage train!

With its 5.5 kilometer circuit, you'll have the opportunity to discover the Parc des Chanteraines from another angle, and enjoy this long ride aboard the Chanteraines train, the only steam train from which you can see the Eiffel Tower! The tour starts at the railway station, level with the Pont d'Epinay, crosses the Espace des Fiancés, skirts theEtang des Hautes-Bornes and ends its journey not far from the Gennevilliers RER station. In total, the entire journey from the "Les Vallons" stop to the "les Tilliers" stop takes over an hour (trains travel at around ten kilometers an hour), but you can get off at any of the stations to discover the park at your leisure, especially as your ticket is valid all day!

Since 1983, theChemin de fer des Chanteraines Association and its enthusiastic volunteers (trained to operate these trains) have been responsible for operating and maintaining the line. Trains run from March to October, three times a week, every Wednesday and weekend: visit the official Chemin de fer des Chanteraines website to find out when you can go! Tickets cost €5.50 per adult and €3.50 per child aged 3 to 12, although children under 3 ride free of charge. Family passes are also available at a lower price (€16 for two adults and two paying children). This is your chance to ride in one of the carriages pulled by the Chemin de Fer's steam, diesel or electric locomotives: in fact, each of these railway machines has its own history, and some of them even took part in the First World War!
