If you live or work in the west of Paris, you may have come face to face with chalk drawings on building facades. Lovers of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's work will surely have recognized the famous French designer's pencil stroke.

French stylist, costume designer and art collector, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is also a lover of art, and more specifically of street art. In fact, some of you may not know it, but the designer has been drawing with chalk on the streets of Paris for almost 30 years.

While visiting the capital's 17th arrondissement, we recently came across several of his recent works. His famous angels can be seen in various parts of the district, notably in streets not far from avenue des Ternes and boulevard Pereire. And their passage is recent, with one dating from March 25 and the other from April 2025. The famous couturier also left his mark at the famous Maison de la Radio et de la Musique, in the 16th arrondissement.

For each of his designs, which seem to be multiplying in western Paris in recent weeks, the designer features his famous angels.

In a post published on his social networks on June 9, 2024, Jean-Jacques de Castelbajac calls himself the " Craieateur " and confides that he has been drawing " all terrains " since 1996. Unlike many street artists who use spray paint, the designer uses only white chalk on surfaces and marker on poster paper. " I've always had this equipment with me for 20 years, my jacket pockets have suffered from it, I've drawn thousands of angels, which the bad weather has washed away, I'll draw more and more and more ", he writes in this post, where we see him drawing angels on a poster at the Cardinal Lemoine station in the metro.

Yes, all his works have a relatively short lifespan. Wiped out by the weather or simply by man, his angels are ephemeral, like all street art for that matter. But that's the beauty of street art, which likes to surprise us, make us think or simply make us smile.
