It’s crazy how atypical Le Fumoir is. Facing the Louvre, this restaurant looks more like a student library with its dozens of regulars with computers or books on tables, staying for hours to work, get inspired or drink a nice coffee.
At Le Fumoir, novel writer, journalists and authors are regulars, and gladly come for the atmosphere and the service: open non-stop from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., the restaurant is abuzz in the two dinning rooms and its open-service library (we find fine books and French and foreign newspapers).
And from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Le Fumoir keeps living with club sandwiches, marinated salmon, cheese boards for €10 and a hot drink + pastry offer for €10 allowing you to have a break between two urgent files… Especially that pastries are quite tasty at Le Fumoir. Passion fruit pie, orange cake, the chef offers seasonal cakes, but the house specialty, is the chocolate terrine and its sorbet, remaining on the menu all year long!
Rather hearty, the chocolate terrine is served with a delicious fruit sorbet, according to the season, and the Valrhona chocolate is displayed with the chef’s biscuits – you can also buy on the go! After two bites of the terrine, our bodies melt to stick to the chair, a sign of relaxation… we better understand why regulars stay for hours!
To have a seat in front of the Louvre or just relax before having dinner, Le Fumoir is really a major place you want to test.
