To mark the coronation of King Charles III, the High Societhé tea room in Paris's 14th arrondissement is offering a limited edition of their famous afternoon tea. Called The King's Afternoon Tea, this gourmet experience pays tribute to the King's love of the royal gardens and the British flavors of spring from May 5 until the end of the month.
Let yourself be tempted by the sweet and savory delights of King's Afternoon Tea. On the menu are plain and raisin scones with strawberry cream and jam, English strawberry and rose cupcakes, a lemon and blueberry floral bundt cake, and a chocolate and crème caramel mini cake in memory of chocolate-loving Queen Elizabeth II.
Savory options include the King Charles Coronation Chicken Roll (a revisited version of Coronation chicken), a cucumber, dill and cream cheese finger sandwich, and an avocado and crab petit four. A cookie decorated with a royal crown and a choice of delicious teas complete this tasty experience.
Celebrate this historic moment with The King's Afternoon Tea, and succumb to the British flavors of spring. And if the house offers it, you can also opt for a slice of Victoria Sponge Cake, THE coronation cake that the British love to prepare and share with family and friends on this occasion. Don't forget to book your royal experience at least 24 hours in advance at highsociethe@outlook.fr.
A tea time that the editors were able to try out. We booked our afternoon tea and, at the appointed time, pushed open the door of this charming little tea room, a stone's throw from Place Denfert-Rochereau. The table was waiting for us! Once seated, we were greeted by a small cake created especially for the occasion, a crown-shaped cookie with"King Charles III" written on it in royal icing. We choose our tea (a tasty earl grey with powerful aromas), then come to the tray. On the savory side, the Kings Charles' Coronation Chicken is particularly spicy, as are cucumber, fromage blanc and dill sandwiches. A great way to start the festivities.
We continue with the sweet stuff: raisin scones and plain scones, particularly moist, accompanied by cream and strawberry jam in the purest British tradition, but also a strawberry cupcake, a small bundt cake with lemon and blueberries very fruity, and finally, a chocolate cake, with a particularly pronounced taste. A sweet part to die for! And of course, everything is homemade. Special mention must be made of the scones, whose recipe has been kept secret, handed down from generation to generation by the manager, who inherited it from her grandmother. And don't forget your doggy bag if you can't finish your plate!
In short, a wonderful discovery for all tea-time and England lovers! It's also an opportunity to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III in an elegant, refined setting in the heart of Paris's 14th arrondissement. Let's make a reservation for tea time, folks? And long live the King!
