A new chapter is turning in Paris's 17th arrondissement. After more than 12 years of loyal service, Kaffeehaus has announced its definitive closure, effective Sunday December 8, 2024. For regulars of this veritable institution, there are just a few days left to savor their German and Eastern European specialties.

Bad news for the gourmands who have made Kaffeehaus their HQ. Located in the heart of the Poncelet market, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, this tea and pastry shop is closing its doors for good this Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 1pm.

For over 12 years, Kaffeehaus has been delighting lovers of German and Eastern European specialties. A veritable gourmet institution nestled in the west of the capital, Kaffeehaus tantalizes its customers' taste buds with a fine selection of sweet and savory offerings. Kougelhopf, salmon koulibiac, pretzels, poppy seed rolls, strudel, chestnut Mont-Blanc and Sacher tarts have been delighting regulars and visiting gourmets for years.

In the spring of 2021, we visited this must-visit address on the Marché Poncelet. At the time, we fell for the real Black Forest and the Squirrel, with its dose of chocolate and crunchy hazelnuts.

Unfortunately for loyal customers of this gourmet house, Kaffeehaus has announced on its social networks that it will be closing for good. It will close at 1pm on Sunday December 8, 2024.

" Dear customers, Kaffeehaus patisserie will close its doors on rue Poncelet for good in mid-December," reads a message signed by Ralf Edeler. The German-born chef had worked in London and then Paris, before finally opening Kaffeehaus on rue Poncelet.

Since the announcement, many customers have made no secret of their sadness. But Kaffeehaus says the adventure will continue online.
